  • Report

Jake Santiago was born to parents of Irish and Spanish descent. A very inquisitive and adaptable youth, Jake excelled in academics, graduating from high school with a near 4.0 grade point average. He was also heavily involved in sports. He earned black belts in various martial arts styles, played football and beach volleyball, and swam.

Jake majored in photography in college and apprenticed with some of New York City’s most successful photographers, paying his own way by working at local restaurants waiting tables and bartending.

Jake’s abilities manifested as a result of a freak accident. He and his friends were driving home from a movie one night along a mountain road that passed a local beach. What appeared to be a meteor storm suddenly struck the area. The driver lost control of the car and steered it over the edge of the cliff. As the car plunged to the beach, a meteor struck it, causing it to explode. However, the occupants were not killed. Instead, they were transformed. As they changed, it became apparent that what had struck was not a meteor storm at all. It was an alien incursion that would later come to be identified as the first of many encounters with the Continuum.

While under duress from the assault, certain abilities manifested themselves in all six young people. Jake discovered that he had developed the abilities to move things with his mind, read thoughts, and release these energies in one swift blast that he dubbed the “telestrike.” After defeating the invaders, the six youths joined together to form a group they dubbed “the Frontiersmen.” Jake named himself “Telestrike.” Aided by fashion designer Donna Michaels, a.k.a. Quasar, the group designed uniforms for themselves. A few weeks later they revealed themselves to a very surprised world, and within months the Frontiersmen allied themselves with the United Nations.

  • POWERS & ABILITIES

    POWERS & ABILITIES:

Telestrike is a telepath/telekinetic of a very high order. His abilities include:

    1) Reading the thoughts of others.

    2) Influencing the thoughts of others.

    3) Wiping the memories of others.

    4) Communicating with others on a mental level.

    5) Causing others to hallucinate.

    6) Sensing strong emotions at a distance.

    7) Generating astral images on a limited basis.

    8) Generating a powerful psionic mind blast (called the telestrike). This blast can affect its victims to varying degrees, depending upon its intensity. It is known to have caused at least one death.

    9) Moving objects with his mind and generating fields of telekinetic energy that can be used for attack or defense.

It has been deduced that the abilities that manifest as a result of contact with the genergy vary depending on the desires of the person in question. In this case, Jake’s desire to use his mind manifested itself through the development of telepathic and telekinetic abilities.

    See referent file #G001: Genergy.

  • MISC

It has been deduced that the abilities that manifest as a result of contact with the genergy vary depending on the desires of the person in question. In this case, Jake’s desire to use his mind manifested itself through the development of telepathic and telekinetic abilities.

    See referent file #G001: Genergy.

Jake has a very deep personal code regarding the use of his meta-abilities. He has been known to refuse to read the minds of others, especially those of his friends and teammates. He prefers to concentrate on developing his telekinetic abilities, stretching them as far as he can with each use.

Upon returning to Earth after the Frontiersmen’s off-world encounter with the alien super force team known as “the Guardians,” Telestrike seemed to have developed a better command of his mental disciplines than he had previously.

See Referent File #402: Galactic Affairs: The Guardians.

This has been attributed to his meeting and subseqescent romantic involvement with the alien woman Psyche, who appears to have helped Telestrike to master his telepathic abilities.

    See File #009: Psyche.

It is noted that all of the Frontiersmen returned to earth with greater confidence in their abilities after that encounter.

  • CURRENT LOCATION

Jacob Santiago died on what is believed to have been another off-world incursion by the alien Continuum. The other Frontiersmen report that they were helping to overthrow a malevolent dictatorship in the Continnuum and restore freedom and democracy to its people when, during the battle, an alien entity possessed Telestrike’s body. According to the reports, the Frontiersmen and the Guardians banded together to defeat this entity, which they identify as “Tauron,” by killing the host body—by killing Telestrike.

    See File #1121: Tauron.
